How much seconds music can I use legal in a short movie (not for sale)?

I mean without getting in trouble with copyright, for example if I would like to use a Iron Maiden's The Trooper for a very short scene (30 seconds) do I need permission? And when do I need permission, is there a norm, like 1 minute or such?
