Why didn't Heath Ledgers daughter go on stage to be one of the people accepting his oscar?

Just wondering, cause usually if the persons dead they would get his kid to take his award.....right. Was there a reason she couldn't? I think it would have made it much more memorable and touching if she were one of the people to go on stage when he won.
